Natural sunlight is the best source of vitamin D —but how long should you stay in the sun without sun protection? 

These patented solar sensors take the guess work out of gauging the real-time intensity of UV light. By changing color, they are designed to help determine the amount of time necessary to attain your optimal vitamin D dosage—naturally!

Directions for Use: 

1)    Prior to sun exposure, apply Vitamin D UV Activation Sensor on to clean, dry skin or clothing. Place sensor where it will receive direct sunlight. Do not apply sunscreen to skin or sensor before going into the sun.

2)    Expose bare arms and legs to bright, mid-day sun between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Protection of sun sensitive areas, like the face, is recommended. Exposure of 25% or more of the body’s total skin surface is necessary. (Click here for detailed directions.)

3)    Optimal vitamin D is attained when the sensor turns red and the sun design disappears.  As soon as the sensor indicates optimal absorption-- immediately apply sunscreen or seek cover.

4)    Sun exposure two to three times per week is recommended.

Caution:
Sensor is intended for use as a general guide to UVB exposure for average/medium skin types.  Results may vary depending upon each body’s ability to metabolize vitamin D. For instance, darker skin types, seniors, or overweight individuals tend to produce vitamin D more slowly so more exposure may be necessary. Sensor may not adhere properly to certain fabrics. Do not apply sunscreen or any other substance to the sensor face, as this may adversely affect performance.
